10th Annual
CAPE
FEAR INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL
APRIL
29th - MAY 2nd
The CFI: Film Festival finally turned ten this year, but we
swear that we don't feel a day over six! There was so much
going on this year that we had a lot of people seeing
double. As always, thanks to our volunteers, our audience
and our very talented filmmakers. It may have been twice
the work, but it was also twice the fun! And don't miss
next year's film festival. That one is going to 11! But
more on that, later. Right now check out the TOP TEN
reasons that 2010 was a great festival.
1.
A SOLD OUT OPENING NIGHT. It
was standing room only for the "Cape Fear Originals" film
block. On a Thursday night, no less!
2. TWO CELEBRITY HOSTS
Nick
Searcy and Ravi Patel tag-team the hosting
duties.
3.
THREE AMAZING PANEL DISCUSSIONS.
4.
FOUR NIGHTS OF FANTASTIC FILMMAKING FUN!
5.
RECORD ATTENDANCE. Not
only did we have the best audience in 5 years, 35 films had
representatives in attendance from all over the US and
Canada. And we loved having them all.
6.
TWO FEATURE HORROR FILMS MADE IN NC. We
had the world premiere of "Savage" and two screenings of
"Forbidden Woods", the first feature length film shot on
the Canon 7D.
7. TWO GRAND PRIZES ($1000 each).
8. TWO NEW VENUES. The
film festival ended up being the kick-off event for
downtown's latest hot spot, The Opera Room. And thanks to
the guys at the Blue Plate for stepping in at the last
minute and saving our bacon. And they know how to do bacon
right!
9.
TWO OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPHERS.

10.
TEN AWARD WINNING FILMS.

A very special thanks to all of our sponsors for making
this event possible. It is very encouraging when so many
businesses are still willing to give to support the arts
even during a recession. Please take a minute to check out
the sponsors page.

Nestled
in the heart of the Cape Fear Region, Wilmington is one of
the most spectacular places to be in the spring. Azaleas
are blooming and the beaches are prime for surfing or
sunning. Come spend a weekend in a town that is rich in
history, especially film history. Take a tour of Screen
Gems studios while you're here and don't miss Orton
Plantation, where the filming of FIRESTARTER back in 1983
kicked off the local film industry.

The
Cape Fear Independent Film Network is a 501(c)3 Non-profit
organization.
